Following considerable comedy, the performer removes the silk from his pocket, saying, "I have pulled a bloomer," for there, instead of the silk, is a cute pair of ladies’ bloomers!

RICE'S 20TH CENTURY BAFFLING BLOOMERS
Here are two effects in one. The performer ties two solid colored Spectrum silks together, then shows and vanishes a third. However, the last silk seems to be hanging from the performer’s pocket. In due course, the performer produces a pair of bloomers from his pocket and the vanished Spectrum silk reappears tied between the first two silks.
With the material supplied it is possible to present the combination routine or the individual effects (No. 217 and No. 251) as separate tricks. Also, as no skill is required to vanish the one silk, many prefer this 100% mechanical version.
